Entrance to a church, in beige stone. It is impossible to describe the level of curlicues, statues, niches, carvings and totally over-designed decorations. It’s called Leccese Baroque. Amazing.

A grave cover in blue … ceramic blocks, the tops of which have been designed to show one large relief oval with 6 cylindrical shapes running down in a line. The overall impression is just weird. But hey, this is certainly memorable.

There is so much water everywhere in the Netherlands (especially when it’s chucking it down), which means there is so much opportunity for pretty, multifunctional bridges.

The grave of celebrated boxer Tom Sayers (1826-1865). His dog Lion was chief mourner at his funeral. 100,000 people are said to have attended, with some poor sods crashing through the fresher graves in the vicinity.
