Are you ready for what’s coming? 🫘
Historian, technologist, polymath, and pissed off.
Let me know how it goes!

You could use flavors or drinks too. Music. Scents like candles. All sorts of prompts that don’t require a change of place.

I also make outlines in spreadsheets and keep track of what needs to be worked on. The status etc so I don’t lose the work.

I think out loud often. So I also use voice recording & transcription when I’m working outside to capture things.

I basically Pavlov myself 🤣

Office = admin, research, editing, mtgs.
Other nooks for focused reading. Writing by hand or getting chunk down.
If I’m working on multiple projects I’ll use a different spot for deep work on each.

I design the triggers too. I’m working on a French WWII story so I listen to music from that era.

Ooo. Second tip. Make spots for yourself throughout the house. I have a penchant for being cozy. I have the chair in front of the wood stove, the huge leather chair, my desk, my bed, the chaise, and a few places outside. Also a workshop. I do different things in each space. It really does help.

The people who love it have good memories from the holidays. The songs transport them back to a time that felt more magical and happy.

So wait. They made up a fake prize just for him? This is sad. Pathetic even. WTF.

She was. I’ve been blessed to have so many extraordinary animals in my life.
December 5, 2025 at 10:15 PM
Lol! She probably was. She was amazing. Drove cross country with me. Lived in 3 time zones, 4 cities. She’d pop up from her spot in my lap and say hello to the toll collectors when we drove through. I still miss her and she’s been gone for 25 years now.

I have ADHD, so this happens to me as well. I try to create mental triggers for certain flow states. So I will try to work on specific projects in a specific setting, and I’ll use other things like music or a certain kind of tea or other prompt to try to put me back in the previous headspace.

I think that’s the appeal. He’s relatable to them. He has “interesting” / “smart” people on to explain things to him. He asks ?s his core audience want to ask. They get to feel like they are both part of the cool guys club & can claim they are getting smarter about the topic at the same time.

As a woman who started playing games early on, I lost interest as they became more bro culture and wouldn’t even consider wading in there now. It’s too toxic and I have enough other interests.

I like to think of projects like that as simmering, intensifying the flavor. Waiting for the finishing touch.

Cats are diabolical whichever way you slice it. 😂
December 4, 2025 at 10:44 PM
She was a smart one.

I’ve had a weakness for tabby cats ever since. If only she’d been able to do some of the reading and analysis as well as the writing. 💀

Here is the current tabby cat denizen. She was a stray a neighbor found. Insists on going outside but loves her naps by the wood stove.

You don’t have to dig far to find the plan that the techno-feudalists have. Add that to the backwards Christo-fascist agenda and it becomes clear that they see much of humanity is not only problematic, but worthy of extermination.

The willingness of fascist regimes to so thoroughly document their crimes is fascinating.

I’m so sorry for your loss. She was beautiful. Grieving a beloved pet is brutal. They are immediate family members whether some people recognize that or not.

I’m an avid listener as well. Headphones in when mowing, cleaning the house, etc.

I don’t think Apple gives you stats on listening time though. Probably for the best.

Very curious to see what Thomas Massie has to say about this after his recent interview. Any thoughts on whether his focus on it is why they have finally moved forward?
December 4, 2025 at 2:05 PM
Yes it could. Thank goodness for spell check. Which existed even in the 90’s on my Mac Classic with its tiny screen that could only run one program at a time.

I’m old enough that I just missed having to write papers on a typewriter. I count my lucky stars for that.
