Anime on VHS

Nostalgia for a time we were told Anime was called "Manga" and we were sold 2 episodes per VHS tape.

Please support this VHS tape nonsense at

This UK version is reprinted from the US Tokuma Shoten version that came out earlier. Are you thinking of that?

Yeah, I probably do. As I recall the tape wasn’t in the best condition but it was watchable

You are exactly correct! I love any obsolete video format and 40 year old 3D technology only makes it better! Thanks for sharing

Yeah, it's such a shame we don't much classic anime, although it seems to be improving very slowly. Thank god for Discotek!

If, like me, you live in the UK you too can enjoy the vast library of US blu-rays with a multi region player. I bought mine from www.mrmdvd.com back in 2014 and they are surprisingly affordable. I'm sure you could use a USB C blu ray drive on your computer too for an even cheaper option

Yes, without doubt it would be a success. I hope we get one

I remember it from the frequent trailers at the start of Manga Video releases at the time but I never got to go, sadly. According to the trailer it was 12th, 13th & 17th August 1994 at the Prince Charles. Do you have memories from the screening?

Wow, that’s fantastic! Thanks for sharing. Seems Marvel had big plans for this movie before it was dumped in Australia with Asia playing over the end credits…
