Most publishers (there are always exceptions) decide whether or not to buy a second book (or a third etc) based on how the previous book did. So when you pirate a book in most cases it’s less about the money you just stole from both author and publisher it’s about the future book you just killed.

I'm planning to set up a food delivery business, but don't want to pay the people who make the food. If they won't give me free food, they'll kill my business.

Have just discovered that my lovely son has hacked my phone to turn ’wine’ into ‘Magical Chicken Nuggets of God’ whenever I type it into my phone.
I need Magical Chicken Nuggets of God to cope with this!

On #NationalLibrarianDay, we're thanking all of the library staff who work so hard to support families in their communities.

We created #BookTrustStorytime to encourage families to visit the library - but it's wonderful librarians who bring it to life ❤️

After a discussion of bad publishing takes and misinformation on threads, I feel like moaning about bad takes isn't enough on my part...so. Publishing. I worked in it for 15 years, now a full time author. I now don't know what people don't know. Authors/wannabe publishers, what do you WANT to know?

Huge rabbit hole about hippos.
I have been doing entirely too much earnest posting about deep things recently, I need to do a proper thread about hippo testicles or something just to keep myself sane.

Oh by the way hippos have migratory testicles.

So, uh, got a call from my editor a little while ago…

SWORDHEART hit the New York Times Bestseller List.

…at number FIVE.

I just…I…my brain does not know what to do with itself.

There’s mostly just cheese and Christmas cake left in the kitchen now. But that covers most of the major food groups, right?
