I don’t know, I think you are really smart and I usually agree with you on everything but I am uncomfortable with how liberals and leftists are reacting to this. I am a former infantry Marine and therefore biased. This therapist who treats veterans describes some of what I feel.

Finally, questioning board members on bias or possible inducements of threats that may have been made to persuade them to decide in a particular way is prohibited. I expect the Air Force will pick board members it knows will kick people out. It doesn’t want attorneys collecting evidence of bias.

But that’s not all! The Air Force policy goes on to implement more nonstandard procedures that belong in Communist China, not the United States. For one thing, board proceedings are now closed. No one not directly involved can be present. This is probably intended to exclude reporters.

The policy removes the power of administrative separation boards to retain trans servicemembers if the board believes retention is in the best interest of the Air Force. In other words, the boards don’t actually do anything, they just rubber stamp the decision to kick out trans servicemembers.

The new USAF policy on kicking out transgender airmen is unhinged and wildly illegal. It is shocking this policy was issued without resignations by multiple USAF general officers. That no senior USAF officers have objected reflects poorly on their moral courage and allegiance to the Constitution.

When DoD issued its first orders kicking trans people out of the military, it said people with 15-18 years in service could apply for early retirement. Retirement is normally at 20 years and can be requested at 18 years under normal policy.
