It’s an old one but an affectionate one. Happy Progmas. I particularly like day 9.

Hi there. This is a tricky one… But this is a ‘go to’. Most comforting for me is art which knows the world is scary and dark, but also fun and can be hilarious. Could be any one of their tracks but…

Token 1…

Good evening! A late start for me after a day out. A top opening tune and some fabulous songs in the mix so far. Thought long and hard about this; Token 1 is The Keeper by Simrit. So uplifting and I’m a sucker for a kora. A beautiful piece of music.

Been organising my version of a tree in my home - and loved fishing some old friends out of the box. Many years ago on bird site @bearsgetcrafty.bsky.social organised an art/craft secret Santa. She did it a couple of years and I was not in a good place. To receive … 1/2

A week ago, I made the point that films/tv etc focus on cars, normalising car-filled city streets. I asked for examples highlighting bikes/trams/buses/walking, and got 1.1k replies. Data!
Here is my unscientific analysis of those suggestions (and no, I can’t believe I did this either). [1/n] 🧵

The Mystery Jukebox will be back up in soggy Scotland tomorrow. Kitty and assistants will be ready to spin the decks and play the tracks that fit her token criteria. Coffee will be served in the afternoon to make sure bar staff can stay away from 11am to 11pm.

Why do batteries in smoke and CO2 monitors always seem to tell me it’s time to change them in the night / early morning? Me and Little cat have now had tea and food (respectively) and swapped the batteries 🥱

Go Jowan! My occasional house guest, son to my Cornish pals and I’m so damn proud of him. He’s been involved in volunteering and creating many positive social enterprises in New Zealand, UK & mainland Europe - tops it off with love of learning the Cornish language.

Absolute shitshow and I’m sorry that the WI and the Guiding association have ended up taking such a decision following campaigns from individuals who may have few connections with either organisation but just aim to cause maximum hurt to Trans people.

✨Inside the medieval roof timbers at Beverley Minster, Yorkshire, one of the rafters has been dated (c. 921) and was a sapling during the reign of King Æthelstan, before England was an entity.
Touch it and you feel a kind of altitude and sense that the past is cheek by jowl.

Kernow showed up in force for river access last weekend. Twenty people gathered near Bodmin to trespass a stretch of the River Camel, while another seven walked the full 20 miles of the Camel Trail to highlight the inadequacy of the government’s proposed nine river walks.

For anyone who is keen to make some very edible mince pies. It’s a Jocelyn Dimbleby recipe. I recommend making a little greaseproof paper contraption like a paper cross with the arms sticking out so that you can pull them out of the trays (they stick) 220 degrees C gas mark 7 for 15-20 minutes.

The cloud chamber shows the natural radiation in the atmosphere. ☢️

Peter Wothers shows how, when the charged alpha particles and smaller beta particles fire through its alcohol-heavy atmosphere, they cause little droplets to form, leaving cloud-like trails. ☁️
