I'd like to express my gratitude to ex-Liberal MP David Graham (@daviddbgraham.bsky.social), who regaled my first-year UAlberta poli sci students with tales from his term in office as well as thoughtfully answered their questions about current events and the future of Canada, U.S., and the world.

I didn't realize how big of a deal the University of Alberta's annual open house is when I agreed to volunteer at the Political Science department's booth Saturday morning. My 2-hour shift went by in a blink of an eye.

I helped trial the Common Ground team's new civic engagement board game called TownSquare last week at the University of Alberta. I'm excited to see the final version and be able to use it in my own classroom.

After years of hard work, I am happy to announce that my book The Candidacy Calculation has been published by UTP. The book takes a nuanced view of traditional barriers to candidacy such as money & family as well as emerging ones such as online harassment & social media scandals. lnkd.in/gKDkMHqs

Elections Canada is, of course, is the main driver behind get-out-the-vote efforts in federal elections. They don't care who you vote for or why—they just want you to exercise your democratic right and cast a ballot in the election. Attached are checklists to help with the process.

Much thanks to former Liberal MP Eleni Bakopanos for speaking with my second-year students in gender and politics at the University of Alberta on March 20. She provided valuable insights into policy and politics from her time in the Canadian House of Commons.

US drag artists Jinkx Monsoon and BenDeLaCreme have put on an Xmas show for 7 years. Unfortunately, they didn't come to Edmonton or Calgary this year, so I watched the livestream from their hometown of Seattle. Loved the core message: we don't always win our battles but we always need to fight.

I'm grateful to former MP Eleni Bakopanos for speaking with my second-year gender and politics students at the University of Alberta today about public policy, politics, and elections. It's always good for students to hear from practitioners about how policy making works.

My first-year Introduction to Politics students at the UofA peppered former Liberal MP Liberal MP David Graham this morning with a tonne of questions about parties, politics, and policy. As always, Graham was funny, frank, and to the point.
