I left the AHA when its council vetoed the scholasticide resolution supported by an overwhelming majority of the membership. I just rejoined to support candidates to democratize the AHA.

The federal government has been changing LGBT to LGB as part of its attempt to erase trans people. All of it is quite painful but particularly awful is seeing this change in the NPS Stonewall site, esp bc we played a famously large role in the Stonewall rebellion. www.nps.gov/ston/index.htm

These executive orders on banning federally funded entities from recognizing trans people or disallowing them from using the bathroom are not self-executing or immediately enforceable. They require formal rule making at a minimum. They are a scare tactic. Ignore and do not comply in advance.

So much of what Trump wants to do targeting trans people will depend on cisgender people to enforce his policies and police our bodies and spaces we exist in.

Trump is reportedly going to sign a piece of paper later today declaring that the federal government of the United States defines me as a woman.
If there's a better encapsulation of how stupid the whole "define woman" thing is and has always been I'd love to see it.

The American Historical Association just voted 428-88 to condemn Israeli scholasticide (destruction of universities, archives, schools). Impossible 10 years ago, unstoppable now thanks to the amazing young historians who came in mass and did the right thing. Never had more hope for our profession.
