I say on the contrary – predetermination gives us predictive power. Without it, life would be chaos. Daniel Dennett, in Freedom Evolves, argues that determinism is even necessary for real freedom and moral responsibility. A refreshing take against the usual resistance.

Rather than say we are the "result" of physical laws, I would say our subjective existence *consists* of physical events. Upon discovering that our lives follow certain patterns, we are caught by the illusion that physics is more real. But it is just like digits to a number: representative.
