I just had exactly this conversation this morning. I’ve had this conversation thousands of times at this point. Some people get angry with me. They call me a Doomer. That’s fine. I just don’t know what people see.
I’ve been having a few too many conversations like this. Them: Hi Kate, how are things with your work, with the world? Me: the university is under attack, democratic norms being broken in half, so, pretty bad. Them: But everything is going to come back and be okay after the midterms. Me: Uhh, no.

Not at all a coincidence that this type of clean-energy comms - which presents a positive case in forceful terms rather than trying to dance around the issue - is coming almost exclusively from non-US firms. The comparison tells us a lot about why the IRA failed. More below:

Today the White House started by demanding a Nobel Peace Prize and ended by scrubbing unflattering history from the Smithsonian. If this were a Democratic White House, the press would be calling for removal from office.

We really need to talk more about how the Extreme Court is all in on Project 2025 and are doing everything within their power to make sure it gets implemented.

Trump is withholding $939M in education funds from CA & about $6.8B nationwide. CA, along with KY & PA are suing the admin on behalf of 23 Dem run states.
This money was already approved & appropriated by Congress. These are needed funds and will directly impact migrants. The picture is clear.

I actually think people are going to miss the complicated, challenging and, yes, sometimes exclusionary social graces that make society possible. You really don’t want to get rid of all metaphorical language, scripts, and lies. They grease the wheels of mutual cooperation.
