Hmm, interesting, it doesn't seem to animate on this platform.

I first heard this in the late 1980s when it was performed at the Lincoln Center, where I was a frequent visitor, living 4 blocks away.
Today, before Glassworks, we heard "Aguas da Amazonia". A wonderful set, with various marimbas and more, that I'd not heard before!

He has a great range of products at reasonable prices. He's always very kind and helpful on BN, unlike some of the other participants!

IIRC there was a wide range of descriptors offered, including complete anosmia!

Yes, Jamie's not alone in using the 'sweaty' description.
There was a thread on the variety of descriptors used on Basenotes a while back.

I usually associate 'sweaty' smells with butyrates, isovalerates, and similar ACs.
Maybe, since most mass market perfumes are full of super amber's, that's what sweat smells like these days 🤣

To me, when sampled neat, it's a super-amber-like odor, but not as powerful as say, Ambrocenide. Seems that everyone's got a different take on it.

Seems to be something that needs further study.
It's complicated by there being sodium salts present in some formulations (academic.oup.com/eurheartj/ar...) and one study looked at already hypertensive people (www.ahajournals.org/doi/10.1161/...) where there was an increase of ~5mmHg.

First thing I tried too. I was left underwhelmed.

I'd been waiting for Nympheal to be released for years, ever since I saw it was detectable at 0.02ng/L (Lilial is 0.27ng/L, Lyral is 0.1ng/L) in air.
Now just waiting for Mahonial to be released 🙂
