It's funny in a depressing sort of way that the folks who seem the most sold on the hyper-individualism of US culture also seem the most rigidly opposed to ideas that would meet more people's needs with less labor hours, and thus allow more time for individual expression and pursuits.

When I was a kid, it was pretty obvious to me that X-Men stories were a metaphor for racism.
However, it took me until age 41 to realize that Magneto is a pretty obvious representation of the problems with zionism.

I just finished watching the CW show, Good Cop Bad Cop. Copaganda aside, I thought it was a pretty fun watch. The character, Henry, is clearly coded as autistic in a Sheldon sort of way (they describe him as "having no social skills"). I'm a little torn in my opinion about him.

I just finished watching the CW show, Good Cop Bad Cop. Copaganda aside, I thought it was a pretty fun watch. The character, Henry, is clearly coded as autistic in a Sheldon sort of way (they describe him as "having no social skills"). I'm a little torn in my opinion about him.
I strongly feel that no one in the US should have lower pay, less paid time off, or poorer health coverage than our members of Congress.
How are they supposed to represent the people if they have a much higher standard of living than most of their constituents?

If the concern were ever actually about waste, fraud, and abuse, they would have taken a fine-toothed comb to the Pentagon before anything else. Then, they would have put maximum funding into the IRS so that they could enforce tax collection on the wealthy.

I was listening to the most recent @coolzonemedia.bsky.social Book Club podcast, and it occurred to me that a lot of the reason I always have trouble meeting speed expectations at work (aside from chronic pain) is that I can rarely get myself out of an artisan worker mindset and into a factory one.

A huge step from HHS that is at odds with science showing significant risks for young children and pregnant women — and that directly contradicts *the FDA's own publication* from last week listing pregnancy as a high-risk condition that would qualify people for this fall's Covid vaccine

COVID infections cause a huge number of "healthy" people to join the chronically ill community. RFK Jr. said that he wants to fight chronic illness. Why, then, would remove the recommendation for any group to get vaccinated? It's almost like he's unqualified and full of sh!t.
