thanks brett, the face with seemingly black markings and a white spot made me think cirl but this pic put me off as the rump looked more chestnut than olive grey

obviously i knew it was a moff given no real options of butterfly but yes it reminded me of wood white too, but as you say not quite the same flight pattern. probably faster too i guess.

well didn't beccy fully justify her salary there! what is it £250k+? well done for trying graham, i gave up on the RSPB some years ago, far better to support other nature orgs/stuff.

probably also the reduction of good habitat itself brett, particularly near where people live as spaces are filled with housing or fields used for glamping/horses etc, lot of loss even in 6 1/2 years i have lived on portland
