Our government should be there to represent the people against corporations, not the other way around. This is an utterly shocking read. I was aware of ISDS - but the scale, the dominance of fossil fuel interests, and the fact that 10 years after TTIP failed, our gov still pushes for ISDS - shocking

After being used in WW2 compulsory ID cards were abolished in 1952 because of the widespread sentiment that they are fundamentally at odds with British values and civil liberties.

Everyone: What's government doing about the cost of living crisis, the climate crisis, and the unfolding genocide in Gaza?

Labour: "We will mandate people carry Brit cards".

This government's priorities are painfully out of touch and increasingly authoritarian.

This is really positive, not just for the Greens, but for the left as a whole. Labour have done little for unions for decades, taking their support for granted. Make Labour compete for Union support halt their perpetual shift to the right.

This is disgusting. The BBC have given far too much air time to Farage over the years - including more appearances on Question Time than anyone other than the hosts. Not to mention refusing to call out Boris Johnson's lies in the run up to 2019 GE. Why do they promote and appease the right?
When did you ever hear the BBC stating that it must alter “story selection” and “other types of output, such as drama”, to win the trust of Green voters, or of unrepresented people on the left?
All the shifts are in just one direction.

Quite. If you can lose $100bn without it impacting your life, you could also, say, pay $100bn towards universal healthcare, defending democracy in Ukraine, housing the homeless, or any other cause, without it impacting your life.

Very sad to hear this is in limbo! I'm sure this would give many young people opportunities to develop their love and understanding of the natural world and prepare them for many future careers. Shame that petty party politics is getting in the way of such an obviously good thing.
I’ve worked alongside the amazing Mary Colwell for years on the Natural History GCSE & it was *not* a Tory initiative. It was agreed due to huge pressure campaigners brought to it. It’s a pity we’ve got to do it all over again with Labour - but we will!

Instead we get this performatively cruel nonsense that does nothing but appease the right who will only demand more nastiness.

A war on the poor, sick, old, disabled.

16.1m have disabilities, 2.8m chronically ill, 6.34m await hospital appointments, 16m live in poverty.

No war on corporate welfare, no wealth taxes or redistribution.
