Well said.
I have to plead guilty to occupying too large a space for my needs. I have, however, managed it for nature in many ways in an area otherwise bereft of wildlife. This slightly lessens my guilt, but only slightly.
It took too long to realise that I fell foul to the dreaded greed disease

Hi Mel. If you come into HBO the main road goes through village, take minor road north off of double bend off Feathers Hill (village shop is on bend). Car park (red blob on map) is after a couple of hundred metres and you should see footpath sign/gate in corner. Walk diagonally down field to bridge…

Just thinking of those passerines that sing over saltmarsh: Skylark, Meadow Pipit, Linnet. A few others perhaps but I think yours is a welcome addition!

I’ve not had much experience of singing birds anywhere and none in flight from memory; Essex is not blessed with regular breeding as far as I know.
Interesting that yours was singing though 4 broods in a year and winter breeding is known

Had odd birds, sometimes more, over my mid Essex village for a couple of months now, always rapidly overhead ‘chipping’ and usually in first hour of light. No suitable sites locally that would likely hold them, very few pine woods
