Out at lunch today, I overheard a guy at the next table tell his wife that it’s ICE’s “God-given right” to kill migrants at will. Hate to say it, folks, but this kind of casual, out-loud brutality has become too common. It’s a reminder that evil isn’t always dramatic, it can be unbearably mundane.

Low rates (below 3-4%) do more damage to the economy than its main goal of increasing asset prices every year. 10% is too high, but 4% is fine -- good for savers and 80% of the population. Anything lower only serves to benefit speculators and private equity, and their asset stripping activities.

One of the central problems that America has is that we aren’t in the leading edge of innovation anymore. We’re more interested in financialization and rent-seeking instead of building useful products that are efficient and cost-effective. That’s the back story of today’s market crash.

Assume that a tariff-only revenue structure really does result in the revitalization of industry and a drop in imported goods, that would mean the complete evisceration of our tax base. This will leave our gov’t with no money to do anything. It would be catastrophic for our economy.

A huge mass of people have become politically aware before they became self-aware thanks to social media. They think in terms of sound bites, not connected to reality and therefore are easily manipulated by bad actors.

This basically is a scheme to corruptly make the Bitcoin market more liquid by getting the U.S. government to subsidize it, with no obvious benefits to the public and a great risk that the we will be stuck with illiquid, volatile, and useless digital assets, while early investor cash out.

Their goal is to intimidate journalists from reporting the news. Big media outlets since the campaign have been pulling punches in their coverage of Trump because they have threatened them with litigation. This is how the media climate looks like in an authoritarian order.
