This seems v. relevant to crim methods debates: people often lack insight into their own decision-making processes. If you ask them (e.g. in an interview) why they did something, they confabulate, come up with post-hoc rationalizations, miss factors that must have influenced their choice

So true! Also would you agree that this is particularly a problem here in the UK? Not a native speaker, but I struggle with BJC papers more often than with any others. A large part of British social science is written in the style of the humanities, a style that has become prohibitively hard to read

In some studies, Right-Wing Authoritarianism items and Punitiveness items are hard to distinguish (yet the former were used to predict the latter)
