These are all awful, of course, but not necessarily worse than the ones they chose. The only time this century that Office has had a good icon set were the flat ones around 2016. Some of the early 90s ones were OK on Windows but the Mac ones from that time were also completely terrible.

I think with these things it's always best to compose a UI from standard components, so you end up with something accessible. (I learned at @frontendnorth.bsky.social that "equally shit for everyone" counts as "accessible".)

The idea is: you have 3 dials around a central letter. The innermost dial has 2 letters, the next has 3, and the outermost has 6. You have to spin them so that reading from each arrow spells a 7 letter word.
