Recently added some letters to my name for research into an immersive artwork that encourages system thinking. The world and its challenges are complex. We need a system-based mindset and language to navigate uncertainty and develop holistic solutions.

Home ownership and subsidies. The consequences of “giving up” and the value of targeted subsidies to avoid it is fascinating.
If this is what “tax efficiency” means, then that’s where I want my taxes invested.

For a project I am working on - how do you think John Howard fundamentally changed Australia - what did he do that we are still feeling the effects of? (Housing, immigration debates, loss of workers rights, black arm band of history, jingoism etc)

Really interested in your takes.

a useful bit of knowledge. thanks.
If you see the Eureka Stockade flag today, know that Raffaello Carboni, an Italian immigrant who helped create the flag, said:

"I call upon all diggers, irrespective of colour, religion or creed, to salute the Southern Cross as a refuge for all the oppressed from all nations on earth." #auspol

Great approach to think about climate change through all the ways we can feel about it. Far too easy to get stuck in anger or despair. Bring on some wonder or even hope!
Looking forward to reading this!

Order one now. Kate is brilliant!
I wrote a book! It's coming out in June! It's about science! It's about feelings! It's the best thing I've ever written, and I can't wait to share it with you.

Laura sums it up perfectly “Not being a terrible government means considering just what opportunities you have to change the conversation now that you are not wedged so savagely from the left and right.”
If they do nothing else, at least shift the conversation.

In the May issue of @artreview.bsky.social, I offer a little provocation: lets do away with 'global south' & 'global majority'. There is no shared hemispheric condition between exploiter & exploited, & the geographies of neocolonialism aren't natural or demographic. artreview.com/the-trap-of-...

Imagine how miserable it must be to experience the world without wonder and delight. Everyone in power right now: no curiosity, no kindness — just power and “prestige” and profit. So pathetic. Dangerous and destructively consequential, of course, but also tragic. Protect the weird and wonderful.

Great podcast for those interested in how continent sized electricity grids work.
Jesse offers a fantastic lesson in how the grid works! Also confirmation of the fact that we have the power electronics today to replace spinning mass. The challenge is making the switch on the world’s largest always-on machine where what you flip on in your house impacts a turbine 1,000 miles away.
