“The hardest part (of deciding) is framing the problem. It is also the part we spend the least amount of time on.”

This is _so_ true.

November 6-7 I will be at @newcrafts.bsky.social in hashtag #Paris.

I love this conference, and this year I'll be sharing another new talk - this time about all the things you wanted to know about hashtag #anarchy but were afraid to ask. 🏴‍☠️ 🎉

Hope to see you there!

I'm excited to be talking next week @gotocon.com (Copenhagen) about how to make architecture work in todays complex, ever-evolving world.

There will be lots about the Architecture Advice Process, and a wee drop of anarchy too. (But no chaos, promise.)

Come and find me for a chat if you're there.

The “ritual” that took place at the board was what was powerful and important.
Importantly *ritual* is participative, regular, and peer-to-peer human-to-human trust building.
It’s *not the same* as a ceremony.

Why is building software systems so hard? 😭

One reason is because of architectural variability - but it's something we an't do without.

At this years @dddeu.bsky.social I'll dig into what variability in systems architecture is, how to work with it, and most importantly how to take advantage of it.

New York Times (Int’l Ed, Nov 7th): “The Trump campaign was channelling … ‘hegemonic masculinity,’ the belief that ‘good’ men are dominant in hierarchies of power and status…and that this dominance is the natural order and what’s best for everyone.”

My book articulates *exactly the opposite idea*.
