With We Contain Solitudes in the bag, I have moved into development and playtesting on a new project.
Here's my first pass at an intro for the game, as a little teaser for anyone interested.
In the 23rd year of the century of peace and reason, Eutopea was assassinated. So it was that the Pantheon of Ten came to the city to mourn their child, and lay claim to the corpse. In the years that followed, the city of Eutopea has changed, and we, its people, have changed. The vision that was once so clear, so singular, has shattered and left us staring at a broken mirror. The body attacks itself, kills itself. The heart stutters, misses its rhythm. Every voice that speaks is too loud, ragged edged, and breaking. Eutopea, the dead city that yet lives on. As Eutopea died, so too did our highest virtues. The first murder in Eutopea has fostered corruption, prejudice, and more killings. Our efforts, once perfectly aligned, are now spent undoing our fellows’ misdeeds. We cling to our dead virtues, and build our city with their hollow bones. It is 1929, and we yet remain in this new, discordant Eutopea. These familiar streets now filled with strangers, with men we cannot trust. We trust in gods instead. The Ten still stand vigil, mourning their beloved Eutopea. They shape the city, a sacred foundation for this great work, ongoing and unfinished. They call us out of our daily lives, untrained and ill-prepared. They ask us to judge what is true and decide what is wrong, to set right what their murdered child cannot. We live in their grief. We live in Eutopea’s wake.
