Hello new followers! Just a PSA that while I often forget about this account for months on end I do update my Letterboxd page almost every day where I write a few hundred words about every film I watch. If that sounds at all appealing consider giving a follow over there.

Typically it requires footage from Carnival for me to be envious of people living in Brazil.

BRASILIA, Brazil (AP) — Brazil's former President Jair Bolsonaro begins serving 27-year prison sentence.

Between this and the $40 million Melania doc the Trump administration is basically a jobs program for creepy, uber-hack, Brett Ratner (the irony being he couldn't make any hay of his former business partner being the literal Secretary of the Treasury).

Not sure what’s funnier: the Awards Ace elbowing his way into Nayman’s mentions to proclaim himself the Christopher Columbus of POOR THINGS hate or that he’s so lazy and oblivious he didn’t even bother to click the link which Adam actually posted two years ago.

During Iraq, Republicans at least clung to the fig leaf that that there was some vague national security concern that justified invading a foreign country. This is just coming right out and saying we're coming to pillage a nation's resources because we want their shit.
Rep. Salazar: "We're gonna be doing a favor to us, to our children, to our economy, to our oil companies to be able to liberate. And to Venezuelans who wants to be free."

Hard to beat Hawks' SCARFACE being included on the steel book Blu-ray for the De Palma version.

Also THE UNDERNEATH is include as a throw-in on the Criterion KING OF THE HILL (somewhat blasphemously, I prefer the former to the latter).
I still haven't gotten around to HERE (was vainly hoping to see it in a cinema), but GHOST TROPIC is fucking major, up there with Hong's HILL OF FREEDOM for "how is *THIS* a B-side for a release?!?".

(As an aside: what's your favourite "oh, let's slide an extra feature film on this disc" release?)
Finally, coming in March 2026, Bas Devos' HERE which will also include his previous film GHOST TROPIC. More details coming very soon...

Trump's worst impulses are often kept in check by the fact that he's sloppy & adverse to putting the work in. And his need for absolutely loyalty limits who he surrounds himself with to incompetent toadies. Doesn't mean he's not dangerous but his need for instant gratification is his Achilles' heel.
CNN: Breaking news… this is big, we have learned that the justice department's case against former FBI director Jim Comey and the New York attorney general have both been dismissed

This was right before he worked up the nerve to ask if he's related to Usha Vance.

Congratulations to Matt Lauer for being only the 4th “most rapey” celebrity at this particular party.

Look, if my mom traded me for a handful of pills I’d harbor an irrational grudge against medication too.
JD Vance calls ibuprofen "useless medication" and implies it's not "necessary, safe and effective."

Has the "Hello police: I'd like to report a murder" meme format ever been applied to an actual murdered person before?
He doesn't know how to use things that are old enough to have a period.
why could Epstein not type a sentence to save his life

Tracy Letts returning to The Big Picture podcast for the upcoming Redford episode?

In the span of 9 months Oz Perkins has gone from "we're slotting this person alongside Peele/Aster/Eggers as the future of horror filmmaking" to "we're dumping his 2nd film of the year into theaters & nobody is allowed to talk about it until 24hrs it opens."

I dunno, I kinda liked THE MONKEY.

This is the closest we’re ever gonna get to him playing Tomlin, isn’t it?

As someone who wants physical media to survive &recognizes it's become a niche industry that will require collectors to pay a premium to subsidize it, I don't love the practice of limited pressings of long anticipated titles that sell out instantly which encourages price gouging on the after-market.

After being undefeated for the first 9 weeks of the season my fantasy football team finally suffered its first loss this week.

I'd be very curious to see footage from the next Shaheen constituents town hall assuming she has the guts to hold one (one of the perks of retiring is you're mostly immune from being shamed for hiding).
Shaheen: "When I talk to my constituents in New Hampshire, you know what they say to me? They say, 'Why can't you all just work together to address the problems that are facing this country?'"

On the other hand, Democrats waiting all of 5 days to squander the enthusiasm and momentum they'd engineered from a complete ass-kicking of an election while also capitulating to their floundering political opponents has to be a new party record.
you can see why fascism is so popular when the other option is The Loser Party That Loves Losing

New Hampshire, famously the "Roll Over and Show Your Belly or Die" state.
Sens. Jeanne Shaheen (N.H.)
Maggie Hassan (N.H.)
Sens. Jacky Rosen (Nev.),
Tammy Baldwin (Wis.), Mark Kelly (Ariz.),
Jon Ossoff (Ga.),
Gary Peters (Mich.) Dick Durbin (Ill.)

the Democrats who are are considered by R's as possible “yes” votes for the deal.
Call the United States Capitol switchboard at (202) 224-3121 and they will connect you with your senator's office.

If you're represented by one of the squishier centrists, be sure to make a call. Now.
