Lovely thread. I recall when I, a bit older, bought my LP of Beethoven 5. William Steinberg. Early-mid ‘70s. One of the first I bought.

Been preoccupied of late & only just caught up with your last episode, which was beautifully crafted, as ever. Rarely agree with the T’graph, but this is so true: ‘some of his intros and between-music links are miniature masterclasses in broadcasting’. A move to Radio 4 Thurs mornings, perhaps?

We climbed up to Cerne Giant again in September during a visit to Dorset. I’ve been visiting it since my teens. Hope to do it a few more times.
