I really strongly feel that some fields of research would profit if researchers stopped collecting online data for some time and instead maybe just read a bit outside of their field.

The success of the far right is not only measured in votes and seats but in its impact on rhetoric, policy and ideology. The fact that a (nominally) social democratic head of government with a huge majority choses to say and do this is maybe the biggest success of the far right in Europe yet.

V important to call out the strategic use of gender in anti-immigrant politics.

Our research shows femonationalism is growing across Europe -- used most (but not only!) by the far right, esp when party rivals converge on anti-immigration positions.

A new study finds that ten years after arriving in Germany in 2015, 64% of refugees are now employed.

Yet, their average income remains just 70% of that of German citizens, and the gender gap is striking: while 76% of men are employed, only 35% of women have found work.

the range of issues it is politically acceptable to discuss – seems to be widening in an alarming manner. The deliberately incendiary juxtaposition of “Muslim” and “migrant” with “rapist” or “illegal” has become almost the norm in some parts of public debate. + the way we debate these issues

Important takeaways from the newest @fraraffaelli.bsky.social piece 👇🏻
Progressive actors should know that:

1- Progressive voters do not fall for right-wing gender-framed anti-immigration arguments. In fact, they seem to reject them!

2- Even on the most contentious immigration issues, voters can hold positive nuances: it’s up to them to bring them to light!

Advice for junior #academicsky job market candidates:

You should apply to all jobs that fit your profile even just a little bit.

Job descriptions are a product of committees and not always very... accurate. My first fly out (and almost first offer) came from an ad with 15+ disciplines listed 😅.
