My latest greatest joy, one that allows me to take moments of respite from the world, is the bird feeders I recently installed outside my window. It took them a few days, but the finches have discovered this feeder in a big way and it delights me to watch them (it’s also driving my cats crazy).

It is extremely not helpful to get this evacuation alert while at home in the SGV, when it’s intended only for folks way across town near the Kenneth Fire. At least put the target area in the alert itself!

There’s a lot of confusion about what’s happening with these fires across LA right now. PBS WARN is a great resource for emergency alerts and evacuation updates. It’s one of the means through which local, state, and federal agencies distribute official communications in emergencies.

I know everything is shit right know, but a kitten appears to have been left by its mama in our backyard and we’ve decided we’re gonna adopt it whenever it warms up to us, and even our younger kitty seems to want to meet it, and this is what’s bringing us joy and excitement at the moment
