SEIs came out this morning and I lowkey dreaded viewing the reports (it was my first time teaching soc of immigration and teaching double the amount of students) but student feedback made my day 😭

Final grades have been submitted for this summer’s Sociology of Immigration course. Reading the final discussion board posts from my students made my day ❤️.

I participated in OSU’s inaugural summer residency program “Intersections of Carceral Studies and Black Studies” last/this week and I couldn’t have asked for a better community of scholars.

Spent 2 1/2 weeks in Dominican Republic visiting family, attending a successful writing retreat, enjoying all the food I could, and finally having time to vacation. Take me back, IMMEDIATELY.

Also, making this summer a Morrison summer 💜.

Throughout my K-12 experience, we did not read one text by a Black author. Enrolling in AA lit my first year of undergrad was the start of such exposure in the classroom. I’ve been on my journey ever since (thank you Professor Cope!)
