German energy giant RWE has pulled out of its agreement with the Namibian "green" hydrogen project Hyphen. The withdrawal underscores growing concerns about human rights violations, environmental risks & a lack of Indigenous consultations & consent in Great Namaqualand.

ECCHR-Legal Advisor @andipietrafesa.bsky.social, calls RWE's withdrawal a wake-up call: “Anyone operating on Indigenous land must respect international human rights obligations. RWE’s decision sets a precedent by refusing to purchase goods produced on land where Indigenous rights are violated.”

Morgen führt der Energiekonzern RWE seine Hauptversammlung durch. Die Zahlen sind positiv. RWE ist zufrieden. Für Menschen aus Texas, Namibia und dem Rheinland bedeutet der Erfolg des Konzerns nichts Gutes. Ich hab mir ihre Kritik angehört.
