i think the majority of all plus levels has this issue, not just +1 and +2. i just talked about those bc that was who seeded and changed things. everyone should give those pushing each level the chance at practicing up to get better

and skill capped tourneys for a long time until recently where i really pushed them to scrim up more and do open tourneys when they can. imo the reason they were hardstuck d5 was not scrimming up. i have a feeling they’ll break midlevel soon bc of this change

majority of the time scrimming against players better than you will give you a lot of insight and genuinely allow for faster improvement (assuming vodding) than those that just scrim at their level.
this is 0 shade but a great example is kittens (d5). they’ve been playing exclusively d5 scrims…

i mean the original tiers had issues. but the generally worked. a system of promotion and demotion based on performance (of more than just one set) could’ve benefited the sever for a lot of the issues raised that prompted the rehaul. but yea unrealistic expectations is a way to say it lightly

while i can understand the sentiment. i will say at the t5 level and 4 too (unless you’re on the upper end) playing up against t3+ can be a huge gap. but allowing for this practice should still be encouraged. i will say the general 8s can be good for this (sometimes)

it is super unfortunate tho. i will say for your play style i’m sure you’re super limited by people who can play similarly or know how to. which sucks

yep that was the first thing that came to mind when this all went down last week. nothing will change unless more people with power try to be more inclusive. or at least make spaces (that are active) that are more inclusive and encourage lower players to practice up

people didn't love how i ran my 8s server but everything i did was to allow people pushing midlevel and those without the results to be given a shot and potential connections. i've always wanted to cultivate spaces that endorse giving people a chance and better practice

like yes i was mad bc i personally lost a practice environment, but the reason it's stuck with me enough to post nearly a week later is bc i'm mad for everyone who deserves the practice.

yea same for me. waypoint gets dodged in plus when tenor pings. so between pickups/practice for myself and general team practice it was honestly a goldmine
my last good tourney run was a pickup of pita, pika, and pork smork and it literally only happened bc of an 8s set that was tx/t1

i genuinely only want +3 for the respect it would give me. and potentially some connections. i would say for the practice too but i know for a fact a good majority would probably dodge any attempts i make for that.

the whole thing is incredibly frustrating, but given we had a system that despite its flaws challenged the common rhetoric, i was hopeful. but much like everything else, that was stripped away by higher level players who simply want to gatekeep practice

splatoon, at higher levels especially, is a game of who you know. practice up is nearly impossible unless you have connections. and you always have to prove yourself before being granted access to people, teams, or areas where you can grind and improve.

and not even what a day or two after the new system was implemented connections again were beginning to get pulled and now people are once again in tiers that do not match the requirements or description.

on the previous outlines for tiers (which i have gripes about too). the issue became pronounced when connections got pulled and people got placed in tiers they did not qualify for (skill or results). which also could've been solved by a demotion system being added (tho please not by voting alone).

mad. the old system wasn't perfect, but it was active and more often than not the sets were good practice.
if high level, high plus players were so upset with the quality of their 8s then why not just ping in plus? and we also would not have been in this predicament if seeders stayed strict...
