I hope that leaders around DC will echo this call for good faith implementation of the will of District voters in next year's budget. Ignoring District voters seeking fairer elections would be an unacceptable stance for our elected officials. /3

Initiative 83 passed with supermajorities across the District, including 68% of Ward 4 voters. It would be inappropriate for our elected officials to hamper implementation of a voter initiative intended to make our elections more open and elected officials more responsive. 2/

I'm proud of the work we did to push this project forward, and so pleased that DDOT ultimately went ahead. But if every traffic safety improvement takes this level of engagement, Vision Zero will remain out of reach. /2
