BJJ dad, armchair anarchist. I'm a white belt, so please don't take any of this too seriously.
Today I finally hit one of the very first submissions I learned, three years ago. A sort of arm Americana (?) from the scarf hold. Although it's not in the drawing, I think you're supposed to lock your feet together at the end there, to keep the arm from wriggling out.

I've had mixed results from trying to bring my friends to BJJ class, so I changed tactics: I booked a room at a local community center and invited a whole bunch of people to come try to kick my ass

I really like this armbar entry

Two ways of defending against the Kimura when you're trapped in closed guard.

A sweep from half mount, w/ an option to go for a triangle. I haven't decided if these techniques really worked for me, or if it just felt like it because I drilled them with a kid half my size.

A takedown from a seated position

In my almost 3 years of doing bjj I've only really hit three triangles (a fourth one was too shitty to count), but two of them were this week 😎

Rear collar choke, alternatively a bow & arrow choke if you can't get a hold of the 2nd lapel. Very little force is required for the finish on the b&a. This one made me feel like a ninja🥷🏼🏹

A transition and a takedown from reverse de la Riva.

I could have done a better job of explaining the transition between the last 2 steps in the 1st image, but I swear it makes sense if you try it.

Just finished this book, about Israeli academia's complicity in anti-Palestinian oppression. Completely dismantles the idea that Israeli institutions of higher learning must be exempt from boycott.

I tried hitting this heel hook on our main instructor, a highly competitive black belt. Didn't work!

(I'm just kidding with that last caption, please don't let 'er rip)

My standing game sucks, but somehow, this one just worked for me. Whenever I couldn't catch my partner's leg with mine, switching to the chinstrap felt pretty intuitive.

Not pictured: the little hop that gets you into position to lift your opp's leg up (between steps 4 & 5). You'll figure it out.

Attempting/threatening a cross collar choke can be a way to expose your opponent's arm. See if you can spot where my kid helped on this drawing.

philistines... 🙄

Some half guard stuff. In the 2nd step, first image, you should be tight against your opponent w/ your arm across their back, and not leave a lot of space like in the drawing.

A solution to the problem of your opponent having the same number of arms as you. I feel like a god whenever I pull this off, haha

Headlock defense. I drew this a while ago, and have since been informed that your opponent's arm should be at a 90 degree angle to their body as you apply the Kimura (last step)

A basic back take from butterfly guard, plus a semi-fancy alternative.

An escape from back control. Between steps 7 & 8, before you turn/pivot, your hand should go on the mat.
