Here Lam explicitly sets out her proposal - which is official Conservative Party policy - to deport long-standing legal permanent residents who have *ever* claimed any benefit, including the state pension or child benefit (even if the child is British), or who earn less than £39K.

As Henry points out,a long piece about free speech in the UK that doesn’t mention the many, many people arrested for supporting Palestine Action and is entirely framed in right-wing talking points is a dereliction of journalism.

Purely for personal reasons, I hate when "they're from a Republican family" is taken to mean "they're Republican." We don't know this.

It took me months to understand that when my Chilean friend says he's "not a huge fan" of an artist/band, it means he occasionally but not regularly listens to them and would be up for seeing them live, rather than that he thinks they're shite.
