Three entire extra holes to accommodate the outer range of men’s wrists, no extra holes for smaller women. On a watch band covered, and I mean completely covered, in flowers.

More measuring told me that average 6”-7” women’s wrist would require the wearer to use the smallest four holes on the band. The average men’s wrist would require the middle four holes, with three holes remaining for those folks with wrists larger than the average man’s.

Readers, it is huge. I did some digging – and I mean wow does the internet have some things to say about watch sizes – and worked out that my 6” wrist is small/normal for a woman.

Had I read reviews I would have seen all the comments saying that the band is huge. But I didn’t because I really wanted the pretty watch band.

This has been my favorite thing on Bluesky today, and that's saying something because this place is quite a ride right now. I have purple cherry tomatoes that will soon be pickled.

Every single study into human things like heart attacks, strokes, whatever - studied men exclusively first. You know the symptoms of a heart attack (left arm numbess chest pain) that's the MALE symptoms. All health centers that are 'womens' use men as default.

4/5: In athletics, studies about nutrition, injury prevention, recovery, and training are based mostly on male athletes. Women’s athletic shoes are based on men’s feet and biomechanics.

3/5: Obviously, the issue goes beyond shirts. Women metabolize drugs differently than men, but because they are underrepresented in pre-clinical and clinical studies side effects in women are often (surprise!) different than in men.

2/5: This focus started when I asked for a women’s shirt at a race and got a men’s or child’s or something that was absolutely not girl-shaped, labeled as women’s. And because it had been a rage-filled week on the feminist front I decided I’d had enough of women putting up with stuff made for men.
