Fix the tax code.
Turn justice into reality.
Don't blame my employer for stuff I say here.
Check out how lopsided these tax cuts are. Millionaires in Missouri get a tax cut 529 times larger than the average Missouri taxpayer. Ohio, Mississippi, Kansas & Oklahoma making similar bad choices.

The tax bill being raced through Congress gives $124 billion in tax cuts next year to the richest 1% and makes the largest tax cuts to healthcare and food assistance in history. I’ll talk about this and more tomorrow with Senators Kaine, Murphy, Warren, Whitehouse and others.

Examine your own state here - in one random example (Ohio, where I raised my kids), the inequity of these tax breaks are even worse than for the country as a whole.

The tariffs negate all the tax cuts for many modest-earning families - and that’s even at the scaled back level, which - who knows if Trump will stick to?

Poorest 20% of Americans get just 1 percent of the bill’s net tax cuts while the richest 20% get more than $2 of ever $3 that is taken from the public sector by this bill.

The rain will not stop @kristencrowell.bsky.social from fighting FOR healthcare & communities and AGAINST tax cuts for the rich.
May 21, 2025 at 11:21 PM
Out here in the rain while Republican jam through a tax cut for billionaires in the dark. Listening to a brilliant young woman describe being fired from her work helping diagnose storms in Louisiana so they could push this tax scam.
May 21, 2025 at 11:12 PM
The poorest 5th of Americans get 1% of the tax cuts in 2026 while the top quintile gets 67%. The richest 5% alone get more than 44% of the tax giveaways in this bill. Stay tuned for more numbers from ITEP as the bill moves through the process.

We know this bill slashes health care for millions of Americans. But to pay for what? ITEP is still crunching #s with our own model (including state by state). Until then, here’s an initial peek using JCT numbers. More than $2 in every $3 in tax breaks in this bill goes to the richest 20%.
May 16, 2025 at 5:20 PM
Did Merck, Apple, Disney, Amazon, Facebook and others need this $1.37 billion in tax breaks that they admitted were suspect? Or could we have used those for health care, emergency management & infrastructure investments?

Other nations are enacting a global minimum corporate tax. The US has now opted out. This means THEY will collect revenue from multinationals INSTEAD of the US collecting it.
Our loss. Their gain.
I explain at the @foreignpolicy.com Solutions Summit.

When states tax the rich, they end up with a more educated population, better infrastructure and more revenue. I explain at the recent @foreignpolicy.com Solutions Summit.

Our team @itep.org loved meeting with German member of Parliament Armand Zorn & Finnish tax expert @laurifinest.bsky.social. Nice to see Germany, Finland and some 128 other countries moving forward on a global corporate minimum tax. Too bad U.S. will miss out on that revenue.

Brand new numbers: Trump tariffs will hit middle class and poor voters hard. Utter opposite of price reductions on day one.

Had a blast on CNN. Takeaway: we don’t let lawyers operate welding equipment, we don’t let social workers perform surgery, so why let untrained, unelected, unqualified programmers have free rein over our most sensitive economic data?

Corporate tax cuts and tax breaks send 40 cents out of every dollar straight out of the U.S. So during tonight’s #SOTU2025, will this faux champion of workers vow to stop cutting corporate taxes?
