Vouchers are not a winning strategy for candidates and students.
Democrat Mikie Sherrill will be New Jersey’s next governor, delivering a sharp rebuke to Republicans who hoped to uproot the state’s school funding formula, expand the charter school sector, and launch a private school voucher program.

You know what would be helpful here? A poll, rather than a “download” with no data. Ask the voters.

There are less trains, they take far longer and will cost the commuter by next year 15% more over last 3 yrs- due to 11M state budget shortfall.

I’m taking an extended break from everything but I have become aware of this mess and I just want to note that the New York Times’ “assistant managing editor for standards and trust” is a guy who once had to apologize for using language he admits is sexist to describe Hillary Clinton.
Patrick Healy, NYT assistant managing editor for Standards and Trust, wrote a thread on how the Zohran Mamdani/Columbia story came together:

Just so hard to watch.
Gov. Lamont says he will *veto* HB 5002, the broad housing bill proponents say would boost affordable housing in the state.

He says he hopes to see an amended version in a special session this fall.

“Veto to me means we can do a lot better.”

A big piece of puzzle missing here- 1/4 of ALL CT state ed $ goes to teach pensions- the state pays 100% of benefits. These resources overwhelmingly go to wealthier, less diverse ELAs. Let’s fix this. www.ctpost.com/news/educati...
Gov. Lamont says CT spends more on education than any state. The reality is more complicated
Connecticut spends plenty on schools, but little of that money comes from the state, and the result is sharp disparities from one district to the next.

It’s crunch time on the state budget. If we’re looking for an extra 70+M a year and a way to help districts who need to compete for and compensate educators fairly…1/4 of all ed funding. Time to get it right.
