September 2025: "Well, I've cancelled Disney+ and Hulu because they went conserva-woke and started cancelling comedians - but do I really want to get rid of YouTube TV entirely b/c I can't choose which channels are in my plan?"

Disney, in October: "Don't worry, we got you fam."

You know that thing where if the headline is written as a question then the answer is definitely "No"

Man, even the candy is under pressure around here

When my kid was 1yo, I got IMMENSE amounts of grief from other parents and family members because I didn't want to wash my hands between handling/eating peanuts and touching my own child. No one in my family has any history of severe allergies.

Fast forward a decade and....

Old school tip that sometimes comes in handy still....

Sometimes I respond to cold-call outreach from tech platform vendors.

Granted I'm not a military expert like Pete Hegseth but from afar it kind of seems to me like logistics, cyber security and drone operators are essentially carrying the weight of most modern warfare.

That said, if they're getting rid of mandatory phishing "exercises" I'm game.

I dunno, it doesn't quite have the same snap that the others do.

I received a survey from the heritage foundation. My responses will probably never be read and this was probably pointless, but I responded anyway.

I wonder if the actual flag code will be enforced completely as written? Probably not.

"7.(c) No other flag or pennant should be placed above or, if on the same level, to the right of the flag of the United States of America"

Not sure how to feel about the fact that running your own mail server is now considered so nuts that the AI's consider list serves to be a form of self-harm 😂

NextDNS has been a really great privacy decision. This is ONE day's traffic.

Yeah, I could do all this with Unbound and pushing local DoH servers and maintaining them, but even as much as I love running infrastructure, for $2 a month it's just too easy a win.

This NextDNS blocking UX feels like a trap.

It defaults to "on" and you have to either accept web censorship based on unknown third-party criteria OR essentially say "I DO want to see child abuse material".

It's the "Yes or no: do you still beat your wife?" of UX settings.

My holiday hot take:

I'm glad people can send their AI note takers to meetings in their place, because anyone who wants to do that wasn't planning to contribute anything or isn't necessary to reach agreements, and would probably have slowed everyone down.

I just want to know how, as a species, we got here:

IOT: "This is great, the oven will tell me when it's preheated!"

(Later)

"Aw hell no, I do not like this."

Law people, can anyone explain why a city can just declare a peaceful protest "unlawful" & beat people down, in light of the very specific words in the first amendment?

Is it just as simple as "The city of LA isn't Congress so they can violate the Constitution?"

I snagged one mid-chomp eating a little gnat once. It's a pure luck shot, and I deleted 200 other attempts to land this one.

Question about rhetoric for people who care about such things:

If a police officer gears up like this, and ultimately has the exact same boss (the president) as a Soldier nearby -- is it reasonable to just say "The military" to refer to the group as a whole?
