Nesting Pelicans obliterating the vegetation that other seabirds rely on to breed. The big guano producers were displaced from Mandurah and now have nowhere else to nest. A bit of a conservation headache... 🤔

Occasionally, a stupid bird decides that nesting under steps is an excellent idea, and they need some extra help to stay safe until the chick can relocate.
Pretty sure this pair has been photographed by every visitor to the island...

Well, there are two types of seabirds, the ones that carry fish in their bills, and the ones that .... errr... don't... and regurgitate instead. This breeding season has been pretty good so far in Western Australia for the terns and noddies. Ocean conditions are 👍🌊🐟🐟🐟

The good news is that so far this breeding season, there does not appear to be any HPAI H5Nx in Western Australia. But we did have a few scares with botulism strain B!
