To all trans and queer people reading this and our cis allies, We know you're tired. So are we. Resisting dehumanization wears on the mind, the body and the heart. Maybe you're angry and snappy. Maybe you feel numb, dissociated or you can't sleep. Maybe you're barely holding up your routines. That is a normal, healthy response to a sustained assault. It is not proof you've failed. It is proof you are human. It is proof you are standing up to a siege. Trauma often shows up in two broad ways: hyperarousal (constant fight-or-flight) and numbing/avoidance. Both are normal. Both deserve care, not shame. You might be noticing: • Intrusion or re-experiencing: flashbacks, nightmares or involuntary recall of traumatic events. • Negative mood and cognition shifts: persistent shame, guilt or distorted self-blame. • Somatic symptoms: trauma showing up in the body as pain, fatigue or illness without a clear medical cause. These are normal. Do not isolate yourself because of them. Do not be ashamed. Be proud. Stay connected. We are under a steady psychological assault. They spend millions through PR firms to find the exact words that will wound us, to find the best way to divide us and make us turn on each other. But every day you wake up, their money is wasted. Every time you laugh at a meme, their work fails. Every time you pick up a hobby, even when it feels harder than before, you are winning. And if all you can do is survive, if all you can manage is to stay alive through the day, you are defeating them by refusing to disappear. Perhaps you read through this and don't recognize yourself. Perhaps all you feel is rage and the need to move forward. If so, good. We need you. Keep advancing. We are not only survivors. We are the stubborn, joyful and proud light they cannot snuff out. Hate is unnatural; it burns through everything and eventually devours even those who feed it. Fire without fuel always dies. We will always have each other. Show up when you can. Rest when you need to. Fight when you are able. When one of us falters, the rest of us hold steady. Stay with us. Stay alive. We will make it through. Weapons for survival: • Rest is resistance. Sleep, warmth, food, laughter and little joys are fuel. Use them without guilt, they are what lift us up. • Small acts are victories. When you reach for joy, when you answer a friend, when you refuse to stop breathing, you are cutting holes in their machinery of despair. • You do not have to be "productive" to be valuable. Staying alive and present is itself a revolutionary act. • Reach out. If you can, check in on one person today. If you can, offer water, food, a ride or a quiet place. If you are the one in crisis, say so. This is not the time to be a lone hero. Let people help. They deserve to take that role in your life. • If you are in immediate danger, call emergency services or your local crisis line now. trans women helped me appreciate feminity. I think like most people who grew up femme, it becomes easy to resent signifiers of pink & girlishness as impositions of who you have to be, but seeing trans women embrace those same signifiers because they choose to returns the joy and beauty of pink to me
