On the second day of Christmas my true love sent to me, two turtle doves and a partridge in a pear tree.
Ate them.

I don't think we need to have any more discussions about "norms" and "precedent." What we need to do is prepare to sue the shit out of this administration in a zillion places in an attempt to sabotage it until we can flip Congress in 2026.

This is all the Russians have been able to take in almost a year, at the cost of about 1500 men A DAY.

You heard that right, 1500 PER DAY

Trump is seizing control of the investigative and prosecutorial powers of the state by staffing them with the most conspiratorial and blindly loyal nominees : Gaetz/Bondi, Patel, Gabbard.

Political retribution is his priority. The rest of governing he doesn’t care about.

When your MAGA uncle wonders why Trump is threatening tariffs and raising the prices of everything, after he repeatedly promised to do the opposite, look him straight in the eye and gently whisper:

"It was never about you...and now he doesn't need you anymore"

People are leaving Twitter because it’s not fun anymore and no one is obligated to be on a platform they don’t enjoy.

It’s not rocket science.

The answer to “Biden has violated a norm by pardoning Hunter” isn’t “no he hasn’t violated that norm” or “it’s justified to violate that norm” but “BULLSHIT that’s a norm.” In fact, political pardons have been offered by both Republicans and Democrats.

I assume the Trump world will react to this calmly with a recognition that the President has pardon power that can't be challenged.

Right?

Yep. Biden, wanting to Uphold the Norms, agreed to keep on a Trump-appointed prosecutor who was probing his son. Created a special counsel to probe his own post-VP document retention. Kept on Durham so he could finish a Trump-ordered probe of 2016.

What did he get? Nothing. So here he goes.

By “look what you made me do” logic, Joe Biden was forced to pardon family member Hunter Biden by Donald Trump pardoning family member (who was convicted of more serious crimes) Charles Kushner four years ago.
Biden had no choice. Trump made him.
Or maybe that’s not how causality works. Nor ethics.
So President Biden has pardoned his son Hunter - and given Trump a precedent that certainly won't be abused.

what's online transphobia look like? folks saying we should be ok with anything less than full participation in society at the level of cis people—because we're just people like you.

you wouldn't like your human & civil rights negotiated away for senate seats. many of us didn't care for it either.🧵
18—dems even ran a trial
balloons in texas & ohio, where senate candidates ran ads saying “of course we’re not the freaks our opponents say—we don’t think trans kids should participate in society at the same level as cis kids!”

didn’t play! if you want transphobia, cruz & moreno were right there!🧵

I'm stoned so yk but the pro-blocking culture is the first evidence I've ever seen of a social media site having a cultural bias toward safety for marginalized ppl. We have to accept so much shit irl. Here it's like "nah" and you're not asked to take responsibility for their emotions over it

I ain't mad that Biden loves his fuckup son and is aware the incoming admin will literally execute him if they can just because they want to.

I AM mad that he hasn't demonstrated the same worry for anyone else.

Come on, man, destroy debt records. Commute sentences. Go wild.
