Interesting @mikehoney.bsky.social, especially since new C19 wastewater graph for Perth (up to 21 March), shows last wave has continued to fall, with the level still very low (relatively). LP.8.1 not mentioned in variant charts.

Thank you for contacting the Department of Health. We appreciate your concern about the temporary disruption in the reporting of the COVID-19 wastewater surveillance over the Christmas and New Year period. Wastewater sampling continued as scheduled during this time and the reporting from 10 January 2025 onwards will include the data collected over the Christmas and New Year period.

WA Health has updated West Australia's C19 wastewater graph up to 13 Dec. A small levelling off of the wave.

In light of the recent PCR positivity rate + aged care data + Xmas gatherings upcoming, this may well be another short-lived downturn.

From WA Health: "A more sensitive SARS-CoV-2 test was introduced December 2024 resulting in an increase (approximately 20%) in the quantification values when compared to the previous values."

When I emailed Fed Health Dept this week asking when JN.1 boosters would be avail (given new wave is 📈) they replied saying the matter "falls beyond the scope of our Dept" - "ask yr state health dept."
I wrote back saying "No - it's your purview"
