The United States has dropped to 57th place in the 2025 World Press Freedom Index published by Reporters Without Borders (RSF), falling two spots from last year and now ranking just below Sierra Leone.

#DRC : They took the Kigali airport to return home because the Goma airport is not yet operational. They are made up of the wounded, pregnant women and the sick, according to a journalist based in Rubavu on the border between Rwanda and DRC, who saw the convoy of these elements of the SADC mission.

#DRC : Nearly 200 South African and Malawian soldiers were allowed to leave Goma on Monday to go to their countries. They were part of a SADC (Southern African Development Community) mission and were fighting alongside the FARDC, the Congolese army and its allies.

#DRC : The majority are from the city of Bukavu, the capital of South Kivu, which also fell into the hands of the rebels recently. Their leaders said they wanted to join the rebellion to fight against the government in Kinshasa.

Doctors from the international humanitarian organization, Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) say they have treated a mass influx of war-wounded patients in recent days in Khartoum, North Darfur, and South Darfur States, where fighting is intense.

#AFRICA: Nearly 300 European mercenaries composed mainly of Romanians who fought alongside the #FARDC (Armed Forces of the Democratic Republic of Congo) surrendered to the #M23 rebels after the capture of Goma, capital of North Kivu and main city of the eastern Congo at the start of the week.
