Saw @realgdt.bsky.social Frankenstein last night on 35mm at the AFI in Silver Spring and the best compliment I can give is that when I was discussing it afterwards with my wife and she referred to "the Monster" I was confused for a second whether we were discussing Isaac's character or Elordi's.

Please understand that when I post this kind of thing, the point is not to say "Ha ha, the leopards are eating their faces." It's to show that there is a powerful, emotional case to be made to rural voters that the Republican Party is their enemy.

This is such an absolute shit take that sounds like someone who doesn't understand public service and the sacrifices a lot of very hard working professionals made because they wanted to make this country a better place to live in or the tremendous innovations arising from their hard work.
The tech guys correctly figured out, long ago, that the risk-takers go into their industry and the people who want to duck down and stay safe go into gov and academia. It’s a shooting gallery for them.
American civil society is full of abject cowards, that is the issue. The government is a mafia state but it is winning because most American elite institutions are devoid of anything resembling integrity and are folding rather than stand on principles that were little more than marketing.
