Professional people watcher. I care about health and information and people and data and libraries. Reproductive and and disability justice are my jams.
I don’t believe in hero worship but I will fan girl all day long. Today I got have a convo with with Chanda Prescod-Weinstein, Beth Patin, and Seeta Peña Gangadharan on epistemic justice. Patricia Hill Collins asked a question. I’m just going to lay down bc the day can’t get any better.

Having a teenage daughter means knitting/sewing/ordering clothes tailored to your exact size, in your perfect colors, and never seeing those clothes again. Except in the laundry.

the straight-up fascism happening in Florida attempts to erase that it was always diverse, always queer and trans, always Black and brown, always full of migrants. that's why we did a whole package about it in November, talking to the young organizers trying to protect each other

That other place is a whole toxic mess. Not nearly as much engagement over here (still haven’t moved my follow list over) but it feels a whole lot less toxic and manufactured.

So angry about this. UW system head and president agree to cut 43 DEI positions, freeze new ones for 3 years, end a program to recruit minority faculty -- even though lawmakers don't have the votes to mandate it.

Biggest profile in cowardice on this issue in the last 3 years.
There's only one rule for college presidents facing ideological control by the government: don't volunteer to be censored. Don't agree to something the legislature doesn't have the votes to mandate.

That's exactly what the Wisconsin system has done here. www.wpr.org/uw-vos-reach...
