I’m trying to eat healthily but there’s still so much cheese in the fridge. And it’s illegal to throw cheese away. Not sure what to do.

I guess I’m going to have to eat the cheese.

Yes. I am now actively eating the cheese.

They’re trying hard to not attribute the bulk of this increase to COVID. At least they mention the word….

We’re entering flu season with bird flu raging among US dairy cattle: ~third of CA herds infected.

The danger is flu viruses have a trick: they can swap segments —one farmworker co-infected by human and avian flu— to cause pandemics.

We may get lucky. I hope so.

Who could have guessed, that an industry that spends billions to make us crave ultra-processed foods would be worried about GLP-1 drugs that lift the veil and make people crave *not their products*? I could see them lobbying against pharmas that make these drugs.

Numerous times this week, I’ve learned of news breaking on Bluesky before Twitter. In the past, it’s only ever been Twitter. Bodes well for the future of this site.

Small note: I wish there was a way to segment notifications (people I follow, mentions, etc).

I definitely remember times before COVID came on the scene when doctors’ offices requested masking during times of high flu prevalence. Now masking for any reason is a dirty word. There are definitely people avoiding necessary healthcare because of this.
Unmasked doctors and dentists make it difficult for people to get the care they need. 91% of clinically vulnerable people are avoiding or delaying getting critical medical work because Covid is worse option.
