Нещодавно мав чудову розмову з Романом Колядою для програми «Амбасадори» на Українському радіо. Поговорили про все потроху — Австралію, Нову Зеландію, Вануату, Кірібаті, допомогу Україні, санкції й українську громаду. Послухати можна тут: ukr.radio/schedule/pla...
As Chairman of Advanced Navigation, a leading defence technology company, he has championed investment in innovative military technologies to strengthen Australia’s sovereign defence capabilities. Advanced Navigation is also successfully collaborating with Ukrainian defence manufacturers.

It was an honour to meet Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya, the leader of the Belarusian democratic opposition, during her visit to Australia. Sviatlana remains relentless in her fight for freedom and democracy in Belarus. Жыве Беларусь!
Many thanks to the Konrad Adenauer Foundation for promoting stronger EU–Australia–Pacific engagement.
We first met in Brussels in 2018, when I visited the EU capital as part of a Ukrainian civil society mission, so it was a great pleasure to reconnect in Canberra. I briefed him on Ukraine–Australia cooperation.
I was delighted to meet the legendary Michael Gahler, MEP from Germany, who has served in the European Parliament for over 25 years and has been the Rapporteur on Ukraine since 2022.
We discussed the current situation in Ukraine, the link between Russia’s war and the future security of the Indo-Pacific, Ukraine’s current needs, and opportunities for cooperation in developing maritime and aerial autonomous systems for our mutual benefit.

Stronger together! 🇺🇦🇦🇺💪
Many thanks to Hon Pat Conroy MP, Minister for Defence Industry and Minister for the Pacific, for a productive and positive meeting today.
The outcome of Russia’s war in Ukraine will determine the future of the Indo-Pacific. Sovereignty and the rules-based order cannot be disregarded by those who are merely strong and bold. In a world where might makes right, there is no place for democracy. Ukraine needs Australia’s support now.
I am deeply grateful to the Australian Government for its support of Ukraine. The stability and security of Australia’s region are being shaped in Europe today.
Australia has a clear national interest in seeing Russia fail in its aggression against Ukraine. I look forward to continuing to work with the Australian Government to advance this shared objective.

Does Australia still stand with Ukraine? The reality no longer matches the rhetoric
In the past 12 months, the Australian government has made no new contributions of any kind to Ukraine – military, humanitarian or reconstruction. It’s baffling.

According to the Lowy Institute’s Poll 2025, 73% of Australians support the Australian Government’s military aid to Ukraine. @lowyinstitute.bsky.social
I recommend checking out his conversation with David Wroe on ASPI’s podcast, where he discusses Estonia’s experience with Russian imperialism and explains why Moscow’s war in Ukraine is a continuation of what we’ve witnessed over the past 300 years.

Jett Cleary was one of eight Australian-based players selected to represent the Ukrainian rugby league team in two European Championship Test wins against Italy and Greece.
Great to catch up with Hon Bill Shorten, VC of the U of Canberra and a seasoned Labor politician, following his recent visit to Ukraine. Bill previously served as Leader of the Opposition and has held several ministerial roles. Check out my short chat with him.
That is not the way these private briefings are supposed to work. As a war-time Ambassador I rely on the opportunities afforded to me to speak privately and frankly to Parliamentarians, and I look forward to continuing to do so.

I have seen the article in The Australian and I am very disappointed that the notes intended for a private meeting of the Joint Standing Committee have been leaked.
Australia and Ukraine will continue to work together to uphold the international rules-based order. Ukraine stands ready to assist Australia in advancing its sovereign defence capabilities, particularly in maritime and aerial autonomous systems.
I thanked him for Australia’s steadfast support and his participation in the regular meetings of the Defence Contact Group for Ukraine.
