She/her. Cat lover. Night shift pharmacist.
Gosh, I love the way Christmas lights look in the snow.

I do still prefer to appreciate it from inside rather than HAVE to go out in it, but I am so happy to be somewhere with seasons again!

No-strings-attached, zero-means-testing, no-questions-asked cash payouts have been proven, over and over again, to be the most effective form of charity/aid going.

It gets people in housing, and it saves the state money. We know this. It's fact, not theory.
An Oregon pilot program giving cash to homeless youths sees a staggering reduction in homelessness. The program gave participants $1,000 cash payments each month for two years, and at the end of the project's first phase, 91% of participants reported being in stable housing.

Dear car, it is like 30 degrees out, I am well aware that means the roads may be icy. I do not need you to put up a flashing message telling me that on my dash.

Caught up with a friend who messaged me on Facebook for a little bit this morning. We both discovered that Facebook had not shown us major life events for each other, even though that is literally the reason I still have Facebook. Ugh.

I have realized I have roughly a week to get up to speed on local politics and figure out who I am voting for.

"The fall colors are beautiful! This is the view from my balcony"
At one point it also said “forget every you think you know about debits and credits”

Which is what I needed to hear

For those who are being all too willing to excuse fucking Nazi symbology.

Thankfully I don't think any of the people on my skyline have been. But I have seen them quoted and like, REALLY? No.

This is not a Nazi bar.

This pretty old lady had a... Productive... Visit to the vet a few weeks ago. We discovered that she has lost a POUND since March (she now weighs 9 pounds, which is ridiculously low for a cat as big as she is).

Unfortunately, looks like her diabetes is out of remission. Time for insulin again!

And after!

About to go get a very overdue haircut

Good news: the vet was super nice and good with handling her, and the clinic in general seemed well run, well staffed, friendly and clean!

Bad news: she is down a pound since her last check ~6-7 months ago 😭 seeing what her lab work comes back with to determine next steps.
Taking my almost 17 year old cat, who has CKD and diabetes (in remission) to a new vet on Friday to get established and routine lab work done.

I hope they are awesome. I am way more nervous taking my old lady to a new vet than I was going to a new doctor myself

Every time I look at the news I feel like the beginning of a disaster movie where all the foreshadowing is there and people are going about their daily lives. Except, we're aware of the horrors and just trying to figure out what small steps we can take to mitigate them personally/in our communities.

So the CURRENT conversation around acetaminophen is infuriating, but it has reminded me of this delightful video from @jessecox.bsky.social and @crendor.bsky.social which my friends and I would watch on really long days in pharmacy school when we needed a laugh.

Make to-do list.

Immediately do task that I didn't put on the list.

Add task to list so I can cross it off.

This is so infuriating. I don't even have kids and I am so glad I left Florida. And I am so worried for my friends and kids that are still there.
Breaking news: Florida will end vaccine requirements to attend school, making it the first state to do so. The state’s surgeon general said every vaccine mandate “drips with disdain and slavery.”
Florida moves to end all school vaccine mandates, first in nation to do so
Florida Surgeon General Joseph A. Ladapo criticized school vaccine mandates, which every state has, and likened them to slavery.
