How did the scam that prompting AI is some sophisticated skill (and hence we need to teach it to our students) start?

First of all, prompting is not hard at all. Second, even if it was, someone with basic analytical skills would be able to easily translate them to that domain.

This is too real. As a conditional green card holder, one malicious person could practically destroy the 10 years of life I devoted to US academia.
Since ppl love campus anecdotes so much, here's one: I have colleagues who give students they know to be MAGA an A (in one case I'm aware of overlooking clear AI use), because the colleague is on a Green Card or H1B, and they know: one complaint like at Texas A&M, and they're on a flight home. People are mad at the Wuthering Heights trailer being too sexual and have we read the same book because to me it’s one of the horniest books ever!

I’m so over the elements in every single app getting rounder and rounder. You’re inviting enough, you don’t have to turn every button into a circle.

Imagine if universities reacted to the metaverse grift the same way they approach the AI grift: “We have the responsibility to equip our students with the ability to navigate Horizon Worlds with no legs.”
