I called them that because that's what democrats offer us at a federal level. We should be furious with that rather than cheerleading it. I care deeply about anti-imperialism. Its infuriating to me that our humanity would be leveraged against the lives of people the world over for capitalist gain.

Sure, that would be great, but what about rent? Groceries? Retirement? Socialized healthcare? And importantly, what about paying for it without exploiting the Global South? Just as cis people shouldn't ignore our plight, why should we accept bipartisan genocide in Gaza as a sacrifice for our rights?

It's not enough. Are we supposed to secede? A Democratic People's Rebuplic of New England? I mean, I'm game but that would be messy. Until then, federal law supersedes state law and the dems have never bothered to do anything for us legislatively when they have a majority. We get mass death and debt

And what about the economy? The unemployment rate for trans women? The trans women who rely on sex work for income who's livelihood is criminalized and are being forced off the internet and debanked? We need more than civil rights, we need economic justice that democrats would never deliver on.

Lol please go back to a high school civics class. It'll help you understand what's going on when HHS rules change and no one in any state can get hrt from healthcare facilities that rely on Medicare and Medicaid anymore because there's no federal law protecting us.
November 22, 2025 at 2:31 AM
I don't. I consider leaving my humanity up to flimsy exec orders and court rulings rather than concrete legislation to be table scraps, and I'm not going to beg for it when it comes at the expense of exporting mass death to the Global South. I want more than just rights. I want trans liberation.

Ooh is this the part where you try to shame me for living in a blue state? I have a more interesting question: which US president increased domestic gas production as a ploy to weaken the price of Venezuelan oil at a time we should've been investing in green energy?

God forbid if trans women want more than just table scraps and have politics beyond our own self preservation. We can walk and chew gum! We also recognize how all these issues interconnect! They can only keep this worldview with black and white thinking of choosing the lesser evil by voting blue.

Obama waited on marriage equality until it was basically unpopular for him not to do anything about it. When you factor in the economic and foreign policy, the only area the Reagan comparison falls flat is the ACA. Even then, he couldn't whip his party into shape to get the public option passed!
November 21, 2025 at 7:07 PM
Also everything that democrats have done for queer ppl over the last 20 years on a federal level has been flimsy at best! No actual civil rights legislation, just executive orders and SCOTUS rulings that could be rolled back when the wind changes direction.
November 21, 2025 at 7:07 PM
Oh I agree. It'll only happen in a select few races where a grassroots candidate somehow generates momentum to break through. Otherwise they'll just count on ppl voting for whoever. They haven't learned shit from the Biden years. If we're lucky trans rights won't be a third rail for them like israel

The "95%" of people who either don't care or harbor nascent transphobia, aren't going to vote against their material needs if they feel someone is actually trying to improve their lives. At the very least, they aren't going to vote GOP based on an exclusively anti-trans message.
November 20, 2025 at 8:37 PM
In a world where corporate mass media matters less and less to people, running on affordability and material needs while advancing trans rights rather than just defending them is a winning strategy. Mamdani's win signals this. You don't have to play the middle unless you're courting corporate donors

Sorry, I wasn't trying to accuse you of otherwise! I guess it would be better to say I feel that this wouldn't be enough for me to consider a reevaluation. This letter isn't nothing, but it feels too much like insider baseball. Myself and others want to see more vocal and tangible things from her.
