Btw I use to agree with you until it was pointed out to me that if all it takes to disqualify someone from being able to run would be a conviction who would stop the current DOJ from going after whatever hit list they would be told to go after.

Depending on the crime.
I’m giving a simple example because of lack of nuance here.
If someone is convicted of felon level non violent drug offenses, after completing their sentence they should be able to run for an elected office.
But just as someone convicted of animal abuse can be - 2/3

We both agree he should be disqualified (and probably agree he should be in prison).

Disqualifying someone due to the crime being related to election fraud, crimes committed while being an elected official, etc absolutely. Same as how certain crimes carry lifetime restrictions

My former neighbor just located the original owner to a “stray” who showed up at her place 4 months ago. The neighbor is actually keeping her but the former owner is thrilled the cat has a good home and isn’t coyote food.
Hopefully your neighbors cat also has a happy reunion
