Writer/mom probably drank too much coffee
Thanks!! It’s a good distraction from the hell that is querying 😄

I know right! My teens aren’t impressed though 😅

😂

It was definitely worth it!

Love the TSNOTYAW podcast and their classes too! (They actually read my query on the podcast, equal parts terrifying and helpful 😂) I’m hoping to check out ThrillerFest one day too!

😂 it’s the only way I can make my adhd brain keep track of everything!
February 7, 2025 at 5:01 AM
No I haven’t, will check it out!

Sure! A woman discovers the car accident that killed her family and left her the sole survivor as a child was no accident—and she wasn’t the only survivor

Not in a long time but it’s a good idea!
February 7, 2025 at 4:26 AM
Usually whenever I’m watching some random crime documentary or listening to a podcast I’ll have that thought
February 7, 2025 at 4:25 AM
Inspirational not really but I like to listen to music while I write (usually nothing with words, mostly contemporary classical, soundtracks etc)

Nothing physical, just apple notes because it syncs across everything. I’m a sucker for organization so I have separate notes for story ideas, quotes, descriptions, craft advice, research, etc

Thriller school was great!

Not any specific mantras or anything but I just try to force myself to meet a goal like 500 words or must not get up for an hour even if it’s absolute crap!

Going on a walk almost always helps clear my head and helps the ideas flow

Tough one! Definitely authors who write amazing craft books (loving Matt Bell’s right now), my critique partner and and way too many authors to name who I admire
February 7, 2025 at 4:10 AM
Definitely not from craft books or purposefully thinking about it—it’s usually from reading other books, movies/tv, the news, people telling me something interesting, etc

Hmm like my first story ever? That would be as a little kid randomly wishing I could go to Ponyland and writing stories (fanfic?) about it 😂 the novel I’m working on now comes from my fascination about cults and the fact that my parents met in one!

Hi I’m Alyssa. Am currently querying an upmarket/bookclub novel with elements of suspense and just started a new project centered around cults that I’m aiming to be a little more “thrillery”

I’m a big fan of Scrivener, once you get the hang of it, organizing and moving scenes around etc makes my writing process happier (but there is a learning curve, I needed to watch tutorials!)
