The main achievement of the tech industry has been increasing the flow of money from people who make or do things to people who already have more money than they could spend in a hundred lifetimes
“Average musician makes $12 a month on Spotify. The fact that they are not even able to sell a record and it’s taken from them by rich motherfuckers on streaming platforms who get paid royally by record labels,Ticketmaster, merch companies. They’re all fucking getting paid, except for the musician.”

I notice that the ABC, Nexstar, and Sinclair statements don’t specify what Kimmel said or what was offensive about it, which I would very much like them to try to verbalize.

AG Sulzberger insists that @nytimes.com has no politics. In his Reuters lecture at @ox.ac.uk he stressed the independence of his newspaper. The idea is that they are non-partisan, above the fray. It’s simply not true. That’s the most damning part: pretending your paper no viewpoint. 1/
How many credulous puff pieces did the NYTimes run on Chris Rufo, whose top assistant was a groyper who got his college Republican club sanctioned for tweeting about "GloboHomo?" Why would they participate in Rufo's racist BS panic about Claudine Gay that got her fired? bsky.app/profile/seth...
With Chris Rufo's former assistant now working comms at the WH office of OMB, we can rest assured that the amount of "gay race communism" coming out of that office will now be kept to a minimum.

I guess Mamdani didn’t know to check that box

One of the things I said over and over again for four years was that Eric Adams succeeded because Wiley/Garcia didn’t form a coalition until it was too late. It was a .5% win, and people treated it like a landslide. This is what RCV can deliver when candidates see success in each other.

Authenticity - we’re about to see a loooot of millennial campaigns like this one.
the more i think about this the more i think that his campaign was a showcase for how centrists *say* they want democrats to campaign. the issue is that what this looks like varies from place to place. i would not expect mamdani to be able to win in virginia, but a mamdani-style campaign could!
what’s funny is that if pro-cuomo centrist democrats were less myopic they might see that mamdani was running the kind of campaign that could help rebuild the party brand — accessible with an outsider persona and a focus on “kitchen table” issues.

When Dobbs came down, the media rightly saw it as the culmination of a decades long effort to eliminate abortion rights by the conservative legal movement. When Skrmetti came down, the media blamed trans people and not that same conservative legal machine.

It's the same court and lawyers.

We've had four years of Mayor Cop! It's total madness that anyone believes New York City defunded the police.
New York City did not defund the police. This is not a thing that happened.

And remember, taxpayers are the ones who pay the settlements in these lawsuits, which ran over $200,000,000 for the NYPD just in the last year.

I wonder if the costs came out of their own budget or retirement funds they might be a little more circumspect.
New Yorkers scream out each officer’s lawsuits against them for excessive force and more upon their city, right to their faces while protesting.

It is 100% carrying water for the opposition to participate in this collective delusion that Dems for some reason need to answer for every teen who throws a rock rather than hold the Trump admin accountable for intentionally creating chaos and breaking the law to stoke violence.

They are in charge.
